India’s real estate sector may be on the cusp of a technological shift as artificial intelligence begins to enter the homebuying journey, changing how developers interact with potential buyers. A recent innovation by DRA Homes has highlighted this transition, with the launch of a multi-lingual Virtual Sales AI Assistant at a major property exhibition in Chennai.

The AI-powered tool functions like a digital sales executive—answering buyer queries, explaining project details, and even scheduling site visits—offering a glimpse into how technology could reshape property marketing in India.

AI Enters the First Stage of Homebuying

Traditionally, property buyers in India rely on brokers, sales offices, and site visits to gather information. However, the introduction of AI assistants signals a shift toward instant, digital-first engagement.

At the exhibition, visitors interacted directly with a screen that responded to questions about pricing, apartment layouts, and amenities. The AI assistant handled multiple queries simultaneously, reducing waiting time and improving efficiency.

Developers say this technology addresses a key challenge in today’s market—buyers expect quick, accurate information before making decisions.

    Why Developers Are Adopting AI

Real estate companies are increasingly exploring AI solutions to improve customer engagement and streamline sales processes. A digital assistant can operate 24/7, handle high volumes of enquiries, and provide consistent responses across multiple platforms.

For developers, this means lower dependency on large on-ground sales teams for initial interactions, while improving the overall buyer experience.

    Multi-Lingual Capabilities a Key Advantage

India’s diverse buyer base makes language a crucial factor in property sales. Cities such as Chennai, Bengaluru, and Delhi attract buyers from across the country as well as overseas.

AI assistants equipped with multi-lingual capabilities can communicate with buyers in their preferred language, making the early stages of property exploration more accessible—especially for non-resident Indians and relocating professionals.

Developers are also exploring deployment of such systems in high-footfall locations like malls and airports to reach a wider audience.

AI and Human Sales Teams: A Hybrid Model

Despite growing interest in AI, industry experts believe that technology will complement—not replace—human sales teams.

Buying a home is a complex, high-value decision involving legal verification, financial planning, and negotiation. While AI can handle routine queries and provide instant information, human interaction remains essential for closing deals and building trust.

Developers are therefore adopting a hybrid approach, where AI manages initial engagement and sales teams handle advanced discussions and transactions.

Part of a Larger Digital Transformation

The use of AI assistants is part of a broader digital transformation in India’s real estate sector. Over the past few years, developers have adopted tools such as virtual property tours, drone videos, and online booking systems.

AI is expected to become the next layer in this evolving ecosystem, enhancing customer interaction and improving efficiency in property sales.

    Outlook

While still at an early stage, AI-powered sales assistants could significantly reshape how homes are marketed and sold in India. If successful, the technology may become a standard feature across property exhibitions, developer websites, and digital platforms.

For homebuyers, this could mean faster access to information, greater convenience, and a more personalised property search experience. For developers, it represents an opportunity to modernise sales strategies in an increasingly digital and competitive market.

Missed home loan EMIs can set off a chain of events that many borrowers do not fully understand. Contrary to popular belief, lenders do not immediately take over a property after a default. Instead, foreclosure in India follows a structured legal process governed by the SARFAESI Act, ensuring due notice, defined timelines, and procedural safeguards before repossession and auction.
